On April 28th, from 12:30-3:30 pm, I’ll be hosting a workshop at @roamlosangeles in Frogtown. In it we will be using meditation to help us access and explore an uninhibited creative landscape within ourselves. We will approach gently; with ease, and with courage. The three hour workshop will include two guided meditations and three writing exercises, and there will be an opportunity to share the fruits of our work with the group.

In this three hour workshop with Nick Thurston @nickontoast , you will write, develop, and perform a short piece in a supportive and courageous group of other creators.

This workshop emphasizes the value of unfiltered expression in breaking through blocks, and the act of performance as an essential component of the creative process. It includes two guided meditations, journaling prompts intended to open the creative channel, and an opportunity to embody your words and share them with the group.

As spring shows us the model for uninhibited growth in the plants and animals around us, we must step into our own creative responsibility; unshackling ourselves from the chains of perfectionism and fear, and stepping boldly into a new season of our creative lives.

Candlelight Flow is a special version of our OPEN Level class. A seemless balance of uptempo flow coupled with longer holds towards the end of class (in a candlelit studio) make this the perfect antidote for unwinding physical and psychological knots accumulated from a long day at the office or home.

Looking to uplevel your ab exercises? Grab a yoga block and let’s get working!💪🏼

1. Isolated crunches - place the block in between your thighs and move slow. I like to create and little cow/cat back to release my abs after the exercise and then engage the abs before.
2. Ab roll down and up - try to keep your arms straight and your feet grounded.
3. Russian twists - a classic exercise, with a twist! Add the block to create more of a load.
4. Legs up the wall crunches - try to keep your legs engaged and dorsal flex your feet.
5. Scissor kicks - these ones are a doozy! Add the block here by bringing it over your head and around the back of your legs. Also works hand/eye coordination.

Yoga Strap in the A-Frame Position:

Wrapped around the upper back, shoulders, and chest, the a-framed yoga strap positions our upper body in an optimal way.

The strap brings attention to lines of energy, letting us feel a clearer sense of direction when exploring asanas in spinal extension.

The a-frame strap also brings attention to some tendencies we may have when engaging and disengaging in standing and balancing postures.

All in all, some fun ways to play with our practice and learn more about ourselves!
